Most Depressing

I Googled some of my surnames, and came up with a bunch of results, including a tree at TribalPages. I thought I'd found a new relative and sent off an email, only to find the email in my own mailbox.
I'm positive I've never created a tree at TribalPages.
I noted that the privacy setting was set to 'High', which means only my homepage is visible, but there they were - 93 names, births, deaths, places.

Seeing as I don't know what the password might be, I clicked the 'forgot my password', and reset it.
Then I deleted all the names on the tree. I couldn't readily find a link to cancel the account.
Armed with a new password, I deleted all the names.

Woe is me. Off to do some scrubbing.

Uncle Robert 1919 - 2009

Uncle Robert passed away a couple weeks ago. He was 90, and the last surviving son of my grandparents. He lived out of state, so I didn't get to see him often, but we talked on the phone occasionally. He was in town a few years ago, and we spent the afternoon and evening together. He was pretty spry and sharp then.
He knew I was taking care of his fireplace out in the woods.

Dooly's Been Digging Again

Decided to pop this into Google - "James Lamb" +Warkworth +brewery and up popped a new item!
It's a post on a board called Collectors Society by someone called Dooly. He was digging on some land, with permission, and found all sorts of things, including a whole bottle from the James W. Lamb Brewery, Warkworth. Wow.
Wouldn't I love to have a Lamb bottle!
If you go down the post a little less than halfway (it's a long post, with lots of photos), there are two photos.
At the end of his post it says he sells stuff on eBay, but I couldn't find anything.
The title of this post should be a link taking you to the post.
I've never seen any correspondence from James Lamb to my grandfather, but a son of James and my grandfather wrote quite a bit to each other, and I have those letters. James Lamb would have been my grandfather's uncle. My great grand uncle. I pretty sure that's right.

Pen Pal, Please

I wish I had a penpal who lives in Newton by the Sea.
And, one from Warkworth.
Belford would also be nice.
Oh, and one residing in Amble.
We always had penpals from faraway places when we were kids.
We'd often write back and forth for years.
Sometimes, my girlfriend and I would each have a penpal who were also friends.
We'd make little tape recordings and send them along with letters done on airmail paper.
I think it's one of those nostalgic evenings.

Record of Marriages - Parish of Edinburgh 1701-1750

I should be cleaning, and getting ready for company, but I just had to have a quick peek at this.
It's the Record of Marriages for the Parish of Edinburgh, 1701-1750, and it's on the ScotsFind site. Lots of databases, and surnames.
Can't wait to spend more time with them.

John Houston & 'Cecilia Speed'

A snippet from an email received yesterday:
"Margaret Houston married William Buchanan. She was the daughter of James Houston and Ann McLaren. Margaret was born in 1781, in Blackford, Perthshire, Scotland."
Ring any bells anywhere?

I also discovered this site -
http://www.chouston.f2s.com/alltrees/fam11624.htm
Too bad there aren't any sources.
Of interest is John Houston's (b. abt. 1766) m. Cecilia Speed (b. abt. 1775) parents, listed as John Houston and Jean Duff.
